Sunshine Division

Since 1923, the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division has been providing food and clothing relief to Portland families and individuals in need. Whether due to the loss of a job, domestic crime, illness, or victims of fire or disaster, the Sunshine Division has built a 94-year legacy of mobilizing quickly and efficiently to assist distressed Portlanders.

We encourage runners to bring at least one canned food to the event.  Collection bins will be on-site at packet packup on Saturday, May 14 and on race day on Sunday, May 15 for non-perishable food donations.

About Sunshine Division

We are thrilled to announce the Sunshine Division as the official charitable partner of the Ecliptic Beer Mile! We will be collecting canned food donations at packet pickup and on race day.  Please bring along at least one canned food item to the event.

The Sunshine Division provides free food and clothing assistance to struggling families with children, seniors, veterans, and the disabled.  We offer direct food assistance six days a week at our warehouse and 24 hour food assistance through our unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau, who store Sunshine Division food boxes at each police precinct to be dispatched at time of need.  Sunshine Division also offers no-cost, bulk food and food boxes to 20+ local hunger relief non-profits serving Clark, Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties.  We are the only food relief charity in Oregon to receive four consecutive 4-out-of-4 star ratings from Charity Navigator, ranking us among the top 9% of charities nationally for fiscal transparency and program efficiency.
